Joana Vasconcelos in the spotlight at Roche Bobois Milan

The Milan International Furniture Fair will see Roche Bobois unveil a new collaboration with contemporary visual artist Joana Vasconcelos, centred on three creations:

- A new collection for Roche Bobois: BomBom Outdoor

Playful and decidedly optimistic, the BomBom Outdoor collection encapsulates Joana Vasconcelos’s inspiration.

- A stand dedicated to this collaboration at the Salone del Mobile

Wholly designed by the artist, the Roche Bobois stand is located in Hall 6, C30

- An exceptional artwork displayed in the Milan showroom

Roche Bobois will display an original masterpiece by artist Joana Vasconcelos, custom-made for the brand’s flagship on via Cavalotti in the Durini Design District – the epicentre of design in Milan. Suspended at a height of 8 metres, a majestic Valkyrie will span nearly 45 metres in length, running from the showroom’s courtyard all the way to the window display.

BOMBOM Outdoor collection

BomBom Outdoor is a delectable set of fluid, organically shaped sofas, rugs and cushions for outdoor use. Joana Vasconcelos used a colour palette inspired by the pastel-hued houses in Lisbon’s Old Town, summoning muted sunset tones. The supple lines of her Valkyries inspired the designs of each unit, completed with adjustable and separate backrests for customised comfort dedicated to reading, unwinding and simply daydreaming...

“Everyday life is my main source of inspiration. My works are designed from everyday elements and materials. As a Portuguese woman, the savoir-faire and materials specific to my culture are essential: the azulejos that adorn our indoor and outdoor spaces, along with the crochet doilies that decorate sofas, tables and televisions in all Portuguese homes.

In my mind, this collaboration with Roche Bobois is the perfect fusion of Art, Design and Life.”
